Ozil hungry for Germany success World Soccer Shop

Real Madrid midfielder Mesut Ozil has got a taste for winning, and he will not accept anything less at Euro 2012.

Ozil: Has high hopes this summer

After clinching the Primera Division title this season, Ozil is now on international duty with Germany preparing for Euro 2012.

And he says anything other than the title in Poland and Ukraine will not be acceptable.

"I have a good feeling," he said. "The title is our aim, otherwise we could save ourselves the trip."

Germany have come close to winning the past three major tournaments, always picking up a medal in European Championships and World Cups since 2006, but Ozil is craving a golden one to add to his bronze from two years ago.

"In 2008, we were second at the Euros, in 2010 third at the World Cup - we have always failed just before the winning line," he told the Bild newspaper.

"It would certainly be a disappointment if we were to finish second again.

"I am convinced that we can do it."

Prior to winning the league title with Madrid, the 23-year-old had only tasted success in the DFB-Pokal with Werder Bremen and the Copa del Rey with Real last season, as well as success with Germany's Under-21s at the 2009 European Championship.

He now feels that he is in the best form of his life and is enjoying his football like never before, which augments his optimism.

"This is certainly the most beautiful phase of my life, I am very happy," he said.

"I have just had the best season of my career and the feeling of winning the title with Real was just fantastic.

"But the season is not over yet. We now want to win the European Championships."
