Atletico Madrid defender Alvaro Dominguez believes his senior Spain call-up is a deserved reward for his performances with the under-21s.

Dominguez experienced a season of mixed fortunes, being included in Vicente Del Bosque's first squad of the season for the friendly against Chile after lifting the European Under-21 Championships with his country last summer.
However, Dominguez was not a regular in the Atletico side after Diego Simeone took charge in December and started the Europa League final against Athletic Bilbao earlier this month on the bench.
Dominguez told the Spanish Football Federation's website: "If we are here it is because every one of us has a chance of participating in the European Championships. It is difficult, but we are going to give everything we possibly can to be on the list on the 27th.
"My call, like those of Adrian Lopez, Isco and David De Gea, is something very positive for the people that have been pushing hard in the younger categories. This is a shop window to show that if you have a good season there is a chance you will be called up. The young players have a lot to offer the national team."
Dominguez was also pleased to see Atletico's fine run to the season recognised as Juanfran's inclusion alongside himself and Adrian took the tally of players from the club in the Spain squad to three.
"It is a great compliment that three players from Atletico Madrid can come to the national team and I expect in the next few years there will be many more," he said.
"I was in the squad once before and the truth is once you land in the bosom of this team everything surprises you. From the way the team-mates treat you to the training sessions. Here one can learn a lot and it is a pleasure to be able to come.
"It will be very difficult for Spain to win the Euros, World Cup and then the Euros again, but this is the goal we are here to achieve."
