Atletico Madrid playmaker Diego hopes he can remain at the club as he looks to secure a permanent deal.
With his season-long loan coming to an end, Diego could return to Bundesliga side Wolfsburg.
The 27-year-old played his part in a successful Europa League campaign for Atletico, scoring in the final against Athletic Bilbao, but said the club was yet to offer him a contract.
“The truth is, I have no offer from the club to continue playing here next season,” Diego told AS.
“I have a spectacular relationship with my team-mates. (Coach) Diego Simeone has also proven his value as a coach by winning the Europa League, and I hope to continue at this club that respects me.”
Diego went on to praise his team-mate Radamel Falcao, who also made his mark in the Bucharest final with two spectacular goals.
“(Lionel) Messi and Neymar in Brazil are enjoying sensational moments, but there is no question in my mind that Falcao is the best striker in the world at this time,” he said.
