Isco: Cazorla one to watch

Malaga playmaker Isco has praised his team-mate Santi Cazorla and said he has been impressed with the winger’s recent performances for Spain.

Isco, 20, was part of Vicente del Bosque’s provisional selection for Euro 2012, but eventually missed out on the final 23-man squad that will travel to Poland and Ukraine.

Nonetheless, in an exclusive interview with Goal.com, he revealed his experience with the national squad was one he will never forget, and singled out Cazorla as a possible star for the upcoming tournament.

“I am very happy to have been with the squad,” he said.

“It was a beautiful experience. I did not expect it, really. I tried to enjoy it and learn as much as possible; I’m very happy.

“What stood out for me? There is one player that I have known all season, and I always say that Santi Cazorla is someone for me to look up to. He has had a great season.”

The former Valencia man went on to suggest Spain have a great chance of retaining their title as European champions this summer.

“I’ve been with the team and I can say that Spain on paper are one of the favorites to win the tournament,” he said.

“However, it is too early to know who Spain’s closest rivals will be yet.”

Spain lock horns with Group C rivals Italy in their Euro 2012 opener on June 10.
